Manas (6 year old) is very tiny for his age, very weak, and his skin would frequently turn blue.

Manas urgently require heart surgery for VSD or a hole in the heart, However, there is no heart surgeons in his native town in Punjab and Delhi is only hope for this little boy.

VSD sometimes called a hole in the heart, this defect — the most common congenital heart defect — occurs when the septum, the muscular wall separating the right and left ventricles, fails to fully form. The hole allows oxygen-rich blood to leak from the left ventricle into the right ventricle, instead of moving into the aorta and on to the body.

Babies with ventricular septal defect may develop severe symptoms or high blood pressure in the lungs. Early repair is often necessary. The repair may be delayed in other babies. Closing a large septal defect by open-heart surgery usually is done in infancy or childhood even in patients with few symptoms. Doing so prevents complications later. Usually the defect is so large that a cloth patch is sewn over it to close it completely. Later this patch is covered by the normal heart lining tissue and becomes a permanent part of the heart. Some defects can be sewn closed without a patch.

Unfortunately parents of Manas can not afford this surgery which will cost approx. 2 L. Father of Manas work as a sales man in a small shop and mother is a devoted house wife.

According to family doctors of Manas “His condition is very serious so serious that right now we have to put him on anti-heart failure drugs to sustain him and stabilize his condition because the cardiologist said that something needs to be done and done very quickly. When it has to do with this congenital heart condition as the baby gets older the condition gets more serious because the heart is pumping over time and it can gradually get to a stop. We are running against time as far as Manas's case is concerned and we need to do something and the only thing that needs to be done is to carry out corrective heart surgery as soon as possible,”.

Fund is one of the greatest challenges we have. We know that people are really sceptical about private organizations and individuals coming to them soliciting for funds but then there are still some genuine people out there that want to help. It is very hard to raise funds but we are determined that Manas must live.

It is just 2 L for this operation and will cover the surgery fees and accommodation for Manas and his family in Delhi.
